How to reset password via text message ?

Students can reset their password using MIT password reset tool https://reset.manukau.ac.nz/

Below is quick instruction how to use the tool to reset password via text message

  1. Click on Reset your Password via text message as shown below

2. Please enter your username and click on continue

3. The page will display your cell phone number partially to protect your privacy.

If this is not your cell phone number please stop and register your current number with your faculty (approach reception or administration for updating your personal details)
If the number shown on the screen is the correct then click on continue.

4.You will receive a text message with a code number in a few seconds. Please be patient.
5.Please enter the same number on the screen. If you enter the wrong number it won’t proceed to the next step.

6.You should get the screen to enter a new password. Please follow the password policy to set up a new password.

MIT Password Policy

It is recommended that you regularly change your MIT issued password.

Note that student passwords do NOT expire, but they must meet the following requirements;

You new password must be:

  • 9 characters long
  • Contain at least 1 lowercase letter
  • Contain at least 1 uppercase letter
  • Contain at least 1 digit
  • Contain at least 1 special characters (e.g. * ( ) . & – _ [ ] ` ~ | @ $ % ^ ? : { } ! ‘): 1
  • Your new password must not be identical to your old password
  • Must NOT contain your username or ID number
  • Must NOT contain your first or your last name

 

What is EndNote and where can I purchase it?

EndNote is the tool used by MIT Library to organise references for student assignments and research.

The library has provided referencing styles, filters and connection files to the databases they support using EndNote.

Access EndNote X7, X7.1 and X7.2

The computers in the Main Library have EndNote X7 installed.

CDs are available for students and staff to borrow for one week, so they can install on their home computers and BYOD devices.

Endnote X7 is compatible with Word 2007 and Word 2010 (Note: Word 2013 is only compatible with EndNote X7).

Does Technology Services support personal laptop issues ?

We encourage students to bring their own device, however it is the sole responsibility of the owner to ensure it is running well.

Ensure your device has;

  • Sufficent hard disk space
  • GHz processing speed
  • RAM
  • Antivirus

Technology Services is unable to provide assistance for problems on your devices such as;

  • Slow performance issues
  • Physical damage
  • Virus infections
  • Upgrades to hardware or software
  • Reimaging

 

Support for these personal device issues can be sought from P B Technologies Manukau branch. A special discount on repairs and purchases is provided as long as staff or student can produce a valid MIT ID card .
